Pacific Garbage Screening is dedicated to clean rivers and oceans from litter and to promote a more sustainable life-style, in order to protect aquatic environments as precious habitats, food resources and economic regions. To this end, it is organized in two main fields of action: Firstly, the development of a floating platform, whose functional architecture will allow to recover floating marine litter from river estuaries in order to stop the litter from entering the oceans while preventing harm on aquatic life. The collected litter will then be recycled and further processed by mechanical, thermo-chemical and biotechnological applications to energy and products, like syngas and biodegradable plastic. Secondly, raising public awareness for the global plastic crisis and promoting solutions through environmental education, interactive events and creative PR activities with international outreach. PGS is located in Aachen, Germany.
